Walk-and-Talk interactive panel FAQs

Does the interactive panel come with application software?

No. The Walk-and-Talk interactive panel is software-independent. You can use it with any software programs you want. The interactive panel comes with PolyKey, which will install a driver on your computer (similar to setting up a printer on your computer), and that’s all you need to start using it.

Does it work with a Macintosh computer?

Yes. We support all Intel and Power PC Macintosh computers running OS 10.2 or higher.

Can I adjust the angle of the interactive panel?

Yes. There is a quick-release lever on the back that allows for adjustment of the interactive panel to a wide range of tilt angles.

Does my interactive panel come with a Walk-and-Talk remote control?

Yes. One remote control receiver is included with the interactive panel. Additional receivers may be purchased separately to extend the range beyond 30 feet.

What happens if I lose the remote control or stylus?

Both are available for overnight replacement. In the meantime, there is a built-in onscreen control, which can be used until a replacement arrives. Click the Walk-and-Talk icon on the task bar and select “Show onscreen remote control.” For replacement, simply contact PolyVision customer service at (800) 620-POLY (7659).

How durable is the screen on the interactive panel?

The screen is covered with a thick sheet of glass, which resists scratching or marring.

How do I clean the screen?

The interactive panel screen can be cleaned with any common household glass cleaner. Because of the sensitive nature of the panel, we recommend that you spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth and wipe the glass panel with it. Avoid harsh chemicals with abrasives, and avoid aggressive scrubbing of the surface. Always turn off the power to the interactive panel before cleaning it.

Can I use the interactive panel with a Walk-and-Talk interactive whiteboard?

Absolutely. Both can be driven by the same computer. Project your computer display onto the interactive whiteboard and manipulate the display at the interactive panel, at the whiteboard, or in the audience (with the remote control).

Do I need a special projector to use the interactive panel?

No, you can use any projector and screen.

How do I connect a projector to the interactive panel?

The interactive panel connects to the VGA output of your computer and the projector connects to the interactive panel through another VGA connector. Alternatively, wireless projection can also be used with a wireless-enabled computer and networked projector.I have a large auditorium.

How can I be sure that my remote control will work from the back of the auditorium?

The remote control has a range of 30 to 40 feet, which can be extended by purchasing additional remote control receivers. Place as many of these remote control receivers as you like in the room. Each receiver has a USB connection, which can be extended to work over a standard Cat-5 cable up to 1000 feet away. The receivers are about the size and shape of a hockey puck, so they can easily be hidden or affixed to the ceiling.

I already own a podium. Can I use the interactive panel on my podium?

Yes. The interactive panel can easily be placed on the top shelf of your podium, connected to power and your projection system, and height-adjusted for the most comfortable viewing angle.

If I use a tablet PC with the interactive panel, can I use the tablet PC features, such as handwriting recognition and OneNote?

Yes. All Walk-and-Talk interactive solutions support the way you already work. Use familiar software and your own computer seamlessly.

How do I hook up a wireless projector to work with the interactive panel?

Wireless communication between the interactive panel and a projector is up to you to provide, but easy to do. Any projector can be made to work wirelessly, and some are already wireless-enabled. You may want to request assistance from your audio visual or IT department. Here are four options for making this work:
  1. Use a projector that is already designed for wireless operation with a wireless-enabled laptop computer. Install software (from the projector manufacturer) on your wireless laptop computer to transmit video.
  2. Use a wired Ethernet-enabled projector which supports remote image sending. Install software from the projector manufacturer on your wireless-enabled laptop, and place a wireless access point near your laptop computer on the same network as the projector to transmit video.
  3. Use a regular projector. Add a VGA-to-wireless converter on just the projector. Then use a wireless-enabled laptop with software (from the wireless converter manufacturer) loaded to transmit the video.
  4. Use a regular projector. Add a VGA-to wireless-converter on both the projector and the laptop computer. This solution is software-free, but requires a small transmitter be placed on the lectern.
For the first three solutions, your projector (or adapter) vendor will provide you with the software you need to load to your computer. This software takes the image of your screen, compresses it, and sends it out to the projector over the Ethernet. It doesn't matter whether you use a wireless computer (802.11) or a wired one; the data is sent the same way. This application must be running and logically "connected" to the projector in order to display your computer screen on the projector.
